2 hr. speed art #2

This weeks art dept. art jam.
The topic was Nazi Gladiator. I wanted to see if I could convey that without using a swastika. So i went with a Red Skull kinda vibe.

2 hr speed art

This week the concept art team is trying out a 2 hr art challenge. If it works out, the whole art team will do it too. For now its just us concepters. This weeks challenge was Demolished Juggernaut. I took a David (as a chick) vs Goliath (as a big blue horned dude) spin on it. Hope you like it

old robot

Dug this up from my old site, from way back in 20-odd-seven. This for you Chris B.
And just in case anybody wants to see Mr. Brunner's awesome robot skills:

You da man sir.
I still like her silhouette, I might just have to redraw when I have some time to kill. Add that to my 'will-do-someday-if-i-still-feel-motivated-when-the-chance-comes' list.

head two head

These were quick pieces done for an in game animatic, based off of character art from an outsource house. For the record, I really don't like how two heads look on one body. But I did like how the faces turned out, and they were actually fun to draw. So I guess thats a win. :P

go fig

I had a buddy who wanted me to quickly rough out some figures for a tattoo idea he had. Fun to do :)

cumbersome gun

I tried to think of what would be the most inconvenient, rediculous design for a gun, just for fun. This is what i came up with. I think my favorite part is the fact that for some reason it requires a hand crank. I think I may have been somewhat influenced by the fact that I have a miele vacuum, which has a rolling base, instead of a regular upright, like a hoover. And I'm always getting caught up in the cord and hose. So I guess this would be the weaponized equivelent.
I've been having a lot of fun lately just playing with basic geometry, mech and SciFi stuff is good for that. Back to basics, very theraputic :)

Also I thought i'd throw in a big dude with a teeny gun to offset the lil' guy with the big gun: okay, discuss...

The Beat Cop

An Idea I had for a Cops Vs Robbers game. Three classes each: A heavy gunner, soldier, and sniper. This is the heavy for the Cops. I liked the idea of an old timey feel, something that would allow for the ridiculous and to harken back to a time where law enforcement was maybe less beholden to any other authority other than itself. If I get more time I'll do the other five classes.

mechs

Ive been on a mech kick recently,
its been fun to play with how the light will cast shadows on basic geometric shapes. Nothing too fancy, just playing around mostly.

Returning Home

This started out as a loose piece I'd noodle with over lunch every now and again. Ironically it was more about me just playing with some new tree and dirt brushes, but then I figured it would be fun to through in a giant chrome ball, and it just went from there.
Maybe I'll get ambitous and post some process on it later.
:P

Murder was the case...

So I found this super rad blog called Pop Sensation over at:
http://salmongutter.blogspot.com/

And its such a great repository for old pulp covers. Its a great collection of old school trashy, campy, and just plain awesome illustration. It sorta makes you sad to realize this chunk of the commercial illustration industry isn't really around anymore, largely thanks to photography (and cinimax negating the need to have these kinds of stories in book form - thanks cable).
But anyway, I really loved pouring through all these old covers so much that I just had to make my own. So this is my homage to the old pulp covers of days gone by. Hope you like it.
Thanks Pop Sensation!
